Spring is about renewal and rebirth in nature. It can also be the perfect opportunity to breathe new life into your living space. Refreshing the art on your walls can instantly rejuvenate your home without the need for a complete decor overhaul or spending a lot (or any money). Let’s explore some simple, effective ways to bring a new perspective and transform your home into a stylish sanctuary for the season ahead.
Repurpose Items as Artwork
Get creative with everyday objects and repurpose them as artwork, either by themselves, or as a collection with your existing art. Take a vintage scarf, a vase with flowers, or a small set of books that vibes with the aesthetic of your existing art and curate a little collection. Consider framing them to hang as a gallery wall with your artwork or create a small vignette on a space nearby for added visual interest. In the first picture below, an art novel is open to an image that connects with the framed art and the candle on the table. The second image shows a vignette of objects enhancing the organic images on open shelving.

Reframe existing art
Sometimes all it takes to transform a piece of art is a new frame. Consider updating the frames on your existing artwork to give them a fresh look. Perhaps you are leaning into a cottage core mood or more industrial vibe. Experiment with different frame styles and finishes to update not only the artwork but also your walls. You’ll be amazed at how much of a difference a simple frame swap can make. Check out the three different frames around the same image by Jacques Majos entitled “Plan d’eau aux neuphars” below.
Move Your Art Around
Don’t be afraid to shake things up and rearrange your existing art collection. Jeremiah Brent, home designer, agrees: “’We’re always moving things around in our space, and art is so interesting because it can completely shift the energy of a room. Play around with the art, have some fun.” Try grouping similar pieces together or mixing different styles and mediums for a curated, eclectic vibe. You’ll be surprised at how much of a difference a little rearranging can make. Check out how the mood of these rooms changes simply by swapping a piece by Angie Wright entitled “Blossom Grove” with a piece by Laurie Franklin entitled “Dark Mineral”.
Create new Art
Not an artist? Neither am I, but you have more creative spirit than you may think. Take your child’s masterpiece and frame it. Print a great photo on canvas from your last trip (like my photo from a weekend trip to Utah) or your backyard or even your pet. Create something during a paint party. Bonus: the act of creating art can be a therapeutic and refreshing experience in itself.
These simple tips can easily refresh the art in your space and give your home a whole new look without breaking the bank. Get creative, experiment with different ideas, and have fun transforming your space into a stylish sanctuary that reflects your unique personality and taste.
