In the spirit of learning, let’s read what the design community says about the color for 2024, Peach Fuzz.
Pantone literally means “all colors”. In the 1950’s, Pantone was a commercial printing company, often asked to replicate specific colors for client advertisements. They eventually created a universal book of colors based on the scientific mixture of tints, assigning unique codes to each color to ensure consistency. This standardized color matching system is what is used today for printing, fabric dying and even web design around the world.
The Pantone Color Institute, a consulting service within the Pantone company, works with various industry design experts and color enthusiasts around the world to engage and educate around color. Each Pantone Color of the Year is chosen based on societal trends and an overall mood that matches the time.
2024 Color of the Year is called Peach Fuzz. “In seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection, we chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance,” Leatrice Eiseman, executive director at Pantone Color Institute, said. “A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless.”
